Wacky Wednesday: Why Napping At Work Should Be Mandatory

Let’s get one thing straight: the 9-to-5 grind is a relic of the Industrial Revolution, and it’s time we evolve.

Why are we still chained to desks, chugging coffee like it’s our lifeblood, when the solution to our productivity woes is as simple as sleeping?

I’m talking about mandatory napping in the workplace.

And before you roll your 👀 , hear me out.

First off, science is on my side.

Studies show that a 20-minute power nap can boost alertness, improve mood, and enhance cognitive performance.

Google, Nike, and NASA already know this—they’ve embraced nap pods and designated rest areas.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are out here pretending that staring at spreadsheets for eight hours straight is somehow “productive.”

We’ll, guess what? It’s not.

Let’s talk about burnout 🚀 . It’s real, it’s rampant, and it’s costing companies billions.

Employees are overworked, stressed, and running on fumes.

But instead of addressing the root cause—chronic sleep deprivation—we’re slapping Band-Aids on the problem with wellness programs and free snacks.

How about we Cut the CRAP and let people sleep?

A quick nap could be the difference between a frazzled, error-prone worker and a sharp, focused one.

And let’s not forget creativity.

Some of the greatest minds in history—Einstein, Da Vinci, Thomas Edison, Margaret Thatcher—were notorious nappers.
Why? Because sleep unlocks the subconscious, allowing ideas to flow freely.

Imagine a workplace where employees aren’t just clocking hours but actually thinking innovatively.

That’s the power of a nap. 😴

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “But won’t people abuse it?” To that, I say: so what?

If someone’s napping instead of working, maybe their job is the problem, not the nap.

Mandatory napping isn’t about slacking off—it’s about redefining productivity.

It’s about recognizing that humans aren’t machines and that rest is just as important as work.

So, let’s ditch the outdated norms and embrace the nap revolution.

Because a well-rested workforce isn’t just a dream—it’s a necessity.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to take a nap. 😴

You should too.
