Thoughtful Thursday: The Truth About Woke Advocates

Thoughtful Thursday: The Truth About Woke Advocates
Look around: the language, the rituals, the fervor.
What’s often called “wokeness” operates less like a rational movement and more like a secular religion—complete with its own dogma, high priests, and unquestionable sins.
And the most ironic part? Its most vocal evangelists often preach without a license in critical thinking or intellectual humility. 🙏🤔
Like any faith, wokeness demands belief without evidence.
Its core tenets—systemic oppression, privilege hierarchies, microaggressions—are treated as revealed truths.
Question them, and you’re not engaging in debate; you’re committing blasphemy.
There’s no room for skepticism, only penance or excommunication.
Sound familiar?
It has its saints (activists, influencers), its sacred texts (certain academic works, social media manifestos), and its rituals (land acknowledgments, virtue-signaling posts).
There’s even a concept of original sin—being born with “privilege”—and the possibility of redemption through performative allyship or self-flagellation.
But here’s the problem: when ideology replaces inquiry, conviction eclipses compassion.
The movement that claims to stand for “nuance” often reduces complex human experiences to simplistic, rigid categories.
Oppressor vs. oppressed.
Privileged vs. marginalized.
Good vs. evil.
This isn’t critical thinking—it’s catechism. 📜✝️
And just like in dogmatic religion, dissent isn’t met with refutation—it’s met with condemnation.
You’re not “wrong”; you’re “problematic.”
You’re not “misinformed”; you’re “harmful.”
Rational argument is replaced with moral shaming.
True progress requires openness, debate, and humility—not fervent certainty.
If your worldview can’t withstand questioning, it’s not wisdom.
It’s worship.
#ThoughtfulThursday—Maybe it’s time we revoke the preaching licenses and return to the messy, difficult, but necessary work of thinking for ourselves. 🧠⚖️
